Before I begin a summer project of sorting the garage out I wanted to get some advice on preparing metal garage shelves that seem to have oxidized by the looks of it could be corrosion due to spillages. So I have initially sanded them down but there are still a lot of orange dust coming up. Is it a case of carry on sanding or is there something I can treat it with to help it along before I paint them?

Just give it a coat of Hammerite paint.
