Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the best way of tackling a shelf problem I've got?

I put up some shelves into an old wall, and had a few problems along the way due to the wall being pretty old and almost crumlbling into dust once I got past the initial plaster (Seemed like it was made of sand and mud and wee stones and God knows what else), which I got round by using filler (Some sort of spray in stuff that solidifies after a day or so) and putting the plastic screw sleeves in at same time. (Can you tell I'm a beginner yet?).

All looking great after a couple of months for 11 of my shelves, however one, which I suspected would be an issue given I had to fill a hole the size of my fist since it turned to dust as soon as I put a drill near it) has slipped out.

Any advice on what I should do with this - I guess I have to use some sort of filler (A better one) but any advice on a particular brand or alternate method would be greatly appreciated (If nothing else to stop by other half giving me stick).

Cheers.

How deep are you drilling the holes?
How old and what type / style is the house?
If you drill deeper you may find something solid to fix to. Knock the plug deeper into the hole so you are anchoring into the brick / stone etc, rather than just into the plaster.

Thanks for replying RF.

The holes are 100mm into a shared wall (Guess it's actually two walls but not gone far enough to be sure). Definitly nothing to fix onto at that length since it appears to be powder the farther in you go. House is approx 100 years old.

SInce it's a shared wall I don't want to go too much further just in case.
