Pantry shelving.

Hi all.

I've got a pantry cupboard in the kitchen and I want to put shelves in there. My thought is stud wall timber as support batons with plywood on top as the shelf. Just wanted any advice on the right timber for the job.

I want to put the shelving in a kind of 'L' shape with a wide shelf at the back and small shelf on left. How would I support the join of the two shelves?

Tips and advice welcome as it's my first woodworking project.

That's what I'd do too.
Far easier to do, although more outlay.
Easier to change things about.

I just used 6x1 wood and those plastic fixings:
