metal or wood door frames?

I want to get my interior doors and frames replaced. They are old, chipped, painted over 1000 times and they just need to go.

A contractor suggested I get metal frames to replace them instead of wood. I'm not sure whether or not I should get metal or wood frames.

This is for my flat in London. I'm refurbishing the place and want a nice polished look.

Thoughts??
