Hi, My basment is being professionaly tanked, and I need to install stud walls all around, before insulating/plasterboarding. I'm looking at using 50mm metal studs 400mm apart, with 12.5mm plasterboard (700mm on some walls, but space is an issue, hence wanting 500mm if possible). Some rooms/walls will have 2 layers of 12.5mm plasterboard for soundproofing.
Will 50mm metal studs be strong enough for walls 2600mm tall, only plasterboarded on one side, and with studs only attached at the top and bottom rails? (can't be attached to the tanked concrete walls). I will place some horizontal noggins between the verticals.
Thanks!
