MHRV filter

Hello

Where do you get replacement MHRV filters from? My MIL has moved into a new flat and the filter is absolutely caked in black muck.

The only branding I can see is "Heatex HA200-220" which appears to be a heat exchanger (rather than a MHRV) brand. I emailed them without reply.

Is it the sort of thing I can measure and get from a certain type of merchant like a plumbers merchant?

This is a dust/particle filter?

You can buy it in sheets to cut to size, I have bought it in the past to make new filters for fans and vacuum cleaners. IIRC I got it from Appliance Spares companies. It is very cheap by the sheet,

Large air conditioners and certain equipment enclosures have branded replaceable filters where there is a frame to hold the material flat, and to make them easy to click in, and it is I think treated to prevent mould growth. You could try an HVAC supply co. The click-on ones are more expensive but very easy to change. Dirt may fall off during servicing.

If you get too fine a filter it will impede airflow. "Motor filter" is quite coarse and "HEPA filter" is very fine. Fine filters clog fastest. You may have a coarse filter preceding a fine one to protect the fine one from early clogging.

Some filters can be vacuumed from the dirty side.

In extremis you can remove the filter and wash in warm water with WUL. It probably reduces performance. Dirty filters can smell a bit.

Long ago I had a heat recovery room ventilator of the centrifugal wheel type. The wheel was lined with a sort of open-pore plastic foam and you could take it out to wash it.

Thanks. Mine is much larger, maybe 600x400 but I get the picture.
