Using a part roll of 2L1.5 micc which has been in my stores for ??? years, but got no glands or seals.

After contacting local wholesalers, I found virtually no-one stocks Pyrotenax these days.

Purchased some online from TLC.
On arrival, I discover they're not Pyrotenax but Niglon - a make I've not come across before, not that I mind.

However I find the pots won't screw onto the cable. Any idea why that should be?

It would be in nobody's interests, not cable makers', pot makers' or users' if there were not standard dimensions for cable and components.

the nice thing about standards is there are no many to choose from :-)

Yes it makes sense they would be interchangeable but we know that doesn't always happen in real life.

Solution found - couple of minutes twisting action with some fine emery paper on the end of the cable and Bob's your uncle :)

Strangely, the olive went on with no problem. Ah well, such is life.

Think its too do with the copper hardening when its been left a while,

some pots are easier to start than others ,depending on how the thread is cut into it, some i recall have a chamfer on the leading edge.

your method works but care must be taken that the shwarf dont contaminate the pot
