Morning,

I have been trying (unsuccessfully at present) to help my Old Man fix his Heating System. (Microbore system which we assume is clogged up with silt etc) but are having a few problems.

Even on the 3 out of the 6 rads that work, the thermostats on the double entry valves do not seem to have any effect at all?

Also, the bathroom rad needs replacing, but we have been unable to find a small (2’ x 2‘ ish) radiator in a style that will take the tubular insert needed for the thing to work (it has a double entry valve) as they are all of a design that have two immediate turns in them? (It would be a nightmare to try and fit a return in the other end of the rad for lots of reasons)

Any advice, gratefully appreciated

Andy

We bought a house with these. . . . .

Re-plumbed with newvalve at each end (just changed the pipes near the radiators). Heating worked much better.

You wont get a rad nowadays that will take the tube so rad needs to be piped either side .
3 rads not working blockage will be in the manifold

Yep blockage will be at the manifold, sometimes not easy to find. Once you locate the manifold try running a magnet around it as it will stick where the blockage is, not an exact science but gives you an idea.
