hi

my current heating system is using microbore 10mm pipe work although under the floor it is reduced down from 15mm.

i want to move & replace a radiator and was thinking of teeing in from the 15mm pipe work.

is it okay for the heating system to use 10mm and 15mm piping, even though it is already? Wouldn't this cause flow problems? Why would a system be plumbed in different size piping?

cheers :)

As long as the system is balanced then it would be ok in my opinion.

Less chance of blockage in a bigger diameter pipe aswell.

Horses for courses. For an individual radiator 8mm tube is usually adequate, or 10mm if a very large rad or long run. 15mm will carry enough flow to feed about 3 or 4 rads (6 kW) and so on.
