Hi can anyone tell me how to replace the carbon brushes on Miele washing machine motor. I've taken motor out but am stuck on how to get the plastic bit off the back of the motor where it goes over the tacho and do not see how the brushes come out. Do you have to take the commutator out?
Hope someone can help
Thanks

Normally you don't need to remove the motor to change the brushes.
Take off the connector plugs & remove the 2 torx screws from the plastic cover at the front of the motor & remove it. Behind the cover you will see the plastic brush assembly, take out 4 torx screws & pull out the whole brush/tacho assy in one go. Once off you can remove the brushes. Fitting new brushes is reverse engineering but before you fit the brush assy back on the motor push the brushes gently into their holders so they stick (only way to do this). When the brush assy is screwed in place use a stiff piece of wire to press the brushes back out of their holders & down onto the commutator under spring pressure. You will hear an audible "click" when done correctly.
