Our washing machine stopped working after 8 years giving us the rinse light flashing warning which appears to mean that the drum isn't turning. So my husband pulled it apart and has examined the engine, the brushes and numerous other bits of mechanics. He has finally narrowed it down to the control board fuse. It is an el 200d. However, after replacing this it promtly blew again. Has anyone any ideas what would cause this?

We really don't want to throw the machine out as it is fabulously made and washes brilliantly. We feel environmentally we should fix it. However, economically it just doesn't make sense to call in the miele engineer. If we replace the board it will blow again, so what can be causing it?

Please help before I drown in a sea of washing....

You probably do need to get someone in to fix the machine but it need not be Miele themselves. Friends or neighbours may be able to recommend someone or there is always Yellow Pages. Items that could be causing the fuse to blow include motor, heater element, chaffed wiring and door switch.
