I have a rather large mirror stuck to a wall above a fireplace. It appears to be stuck on with an with some sort of glue/solvent. There is no frame. Anyone have any idea of how to get it down in one piece? I could force it from the back using a crowbar, I've considered dissolving the glue with something although I don't know what - hot water - acetone - detergent??? I'd rather not have to break the mirror as its worth quite a bit.

tricky job.whatever you use cover the mirror in masking tape first for safety.
i,d try slowly tapping carefully behind the mirror using a hammer and a blade ,like that of a wood saw.
you,ll need someone on hand to catch the mirror.
