Plumber has fitted a mini expansion vessel using a brass tee piece for potable/drinking water but used a combination of jointing compound, pipe sealing cord and possibly PTFE tape. There's loads of this combination on the expansion vessel thread.

Is mixing of the multiple pastes and fibres on a single thread at the same time (unknown reactions or not hardening properly etc) something to be concerned about for drinking water?

I can't say for sure which products have been combined but it looked to be:

Jet-Lube V-2 Plus - https://www.diy.com/departments/jet-lube-jointing-compound-300g/191085_BQ.prd

and

Loctite 55 (coated with its own paste) - https://www.henkel-adhesives.com/uk/en/product/thread-sealants/loctite_55.html

and maybe some white PTFE tape.

Thanks

All of them are fine for using on potable ( drinking) water.

.......but quite why he needed all of them .........?

Maybe a taper thread into a parallel?

Odd way to do it but it's all WRAS approved so should be fine

@oilhead - something along those lines was my thought.

@terryplumb @muggles - I suppose to phrase my question more precisely. Are these products still considered potable/approved even when combined?

Thanks.
