Mixer is short circuiting my house!

It is pretty well used judging by the marks or scratches on one side.

Personally I would never use second hand food processors without first stripping and examining them internally unless I knew the full history of previous use.

[1] there may be bio-hazard contaminates inside the casing from previous use.

[2] the mechanism / electrical parts may need repair / replacement. Being competant to do these types of repairs means I would attempt them as it doesn't cost me anything other than time. If replacement parts are needed then I weigh up cost against benefit.

Just a quick thanks to everyone who helped me with this. I changed the fuse over to a 3a, and tried it again this morning - it works! I think it must have been damp, and my wife is pretty happy with it...chocolate brownie on the way (not quite what I meant when I would score brownie points with it, but a close second!).
