Mixer tap problem

Hi

Can any one help?

I have a shower hose type mixer tap on my bath
When I turn the divert handle to shower, a small amount of water comes out of the shower but most still comes out of the tap!
Hopeless for hair washing!

Any bright ideas will be gratefully received!

Replace it. Probably not worth trying to repair even assuming you can access it or get the parts

I was afraid that might be the answer, which is a shame as it is an old solid brass tap, which is fixed to the wall, I have not seen any around at all.

Personally before splashing out on a new one, I would turn the water off and open it up, take the handle off and undo the nut and see if you can find the problem, then if there is a broken piece inside which I bet there is, take it to a tap shop and see if they have the part.
