Hi all,

I am restoring a bath old mixer tap, cleaning the limescale off various bits and pieces, putting some new O rings on the diverter etc.

The tap glands are a bit caked-up with limescale but I have managed to get most of it off.

My question is this: do I need to apply any grease/lubricant/wd to the moving parts of the glands before reinstalling.

And if I do, can anyone recommend a brand?

Also, should I be greasing the various nuts as I put the mixer tap. back together?

And best grease for the job?

many thanks

Paul

Go for silicone grease (Screwfix etc)......it doesn’t harm rubber.
You may get benefit by packing the glands with ptfe tape, again lubed by the silicone.
