Hi,
have just recently fitted mixer taps to my bath and sink we have an old back boiler and the system is gavity fed. The pressure on the hot water was never great but seems to have got worse since the taps went on. I was hoping to fit a pump to the hot water system to boost pressure as there is not enough to get even a luke warm shower through the shower head, also i have noticed the overflow in the loft is leaking intermittantly. I have very little experience in plumbing and was wondering if its ok to fit a pump on this set up?? will fitting a pump cure the overflow leaking or do i need to fit some sort of valve to resolve this?? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :?

is your bathroom cold feed fed from a tank in the loft or is it mains fed ?

the easiest way to find out is turn your main stop cock off and try run the cold bath and basin tap.

appreciate you taking the time and the fast response nealdean :D tried what you suggested its a mains fed to the cold water supply.

HI

1.some mixer taps have smaller internal bore than standard taps.
2.some mixer taps are designed so that hot & cold water is mixed inside so when you open the tap water mixes inside and cold water pushes hot water back to the cold water tank thus in result overflows.
3.fitting a shower pump for the shower only will provide good shower
4.fit non return valve on Hot & Cold supply before the tap .this will stop overflow.

many thanks to all that repllied and shared there knowledge, will fit the none return valves and pump and fingers crossed all will be well, much appreciated :D
