Are there only certain moderators there can approve posts? Only a post I made just two posts on the same page after that in the same thread has been altered, presumably by a moderator. Are there different tiers of moderators in this forum?

I quoted and mocked one of Notch7's posts once. Nothing sweary or risky in any way, just made him look silly. My post vanished, along with his original post. Weird.

I get it all the time, this morning I was advised a post had been remove and I was threatened with a permanent ban.

I've never come across a forum, where the moderators are so ashamed, that they hide away, afraid of being identified.

Ouch! In general terms, what was the post about.

I couldn't possibly say.

Abuse of power?

No. Moderators decided they had to be anon years ago. Blame the forum

The problem is that mods in this forum can not quick and easy do a general ban on a member from posting new rubbish.(That may be changing.)

When mods decide to get rid of someone it takes a while to set up (as in the case of gas 112 and others who can't post in GD now. )
The annoyed people target whoever they think the mods are, and cannot be silenced so they can just post again and again.
In other forums mods can usually silence anyone or suspend them.
There are a lot of stupid and argumentative posters we don't have time for.
If someone mostly posts ONLY to have a go at a poster or be abusive etc and its not about the argument, we can get them banned, with effort.
A dozen or so posters are putting themselfs in this category.

If I posted as Fred and gave my reasons there would be replies to Fred which would be unwanted by everyone.. No time for that. Everybody thinks they are very important and that they are right. Wrong.

If someone posts something which breaks the rules do not answer it, report it. If you quote it or argue your post goes too, if we see it.
Its the way it is. If you don't accept it, please find another forum.

Maybe if you engaged with people properly, and showed justification for your "verdicts", and explained what rule-breaking an "offending" post actually contained, rather than a Kafka-esque deletion because you decided it was "crap", people wouldn't get so annoyed.

Maybe if you didn't lock people out of threads they hadn't even posted in and tell them you'd done it as "punishment" you might get more respect.

If someone posts something which breaks the rules do not answer it, report it.

Can you assure us that people who report posts will not themselves be penalised for doing that?

Can you assure us that the same standards of rules-enforcement are applied to everybody, whether you personally like, or dislike them, or whether you personally share, or are opposed to, their political or social views?

Its the way it is. If you don't accept it, please find another forum.

There really are problems with the way that some people behave here, and think they should be allowed to behave, and how they think others should be made to behave, or even be forced out, and I'm not talking about actual beliefs, or opinions, or the substance of the arguments.

There really are problems here with they way that some Moderators act.

To say "If you don't accept it, please find another forum" is defeatist and regressive.

There has to be a better way.
