Modifying original cast iron soil pipe

Has anyone drilled a hole in the old cast iron soil pipe to take a 40mm plastic saddle to take the new shower waste water?

A good hole cutter should be fine.....or cut a section out using snap chain cutters and install a boss pipe.
 
If you plan on cutting a section out, make sure whatever's left above is still self supporting, there's a hell of a lot of weight in cast, last thing you want is it trying to make an uncontrolled descent....
