Moisture Barrier Paint?

I'd like to paint my bathroom ceilings with a moisture resistant paint, in order to stop moisture rising up into the loft.

I have condensation issues directly above where the bathrooms are, and no-where else, which suggests to me that the moisture is going straight up!

I will seal around the light fixings at the same time.

Any thoughts? I would imagine it has to be oil based rather than water based...

Cheers

As John indicated, moisture doesn't typically penetrate the ceiling materials, but finds a way thro the slight openings around fittings etc.

Oil paint will certainly be easier to clean, but without good mechanical extraction, condensation can form on an oil painted ceiling.

im considering the same action with a paint. we also have spot lights, how would you seal them properly?

I don't have any spotlights, only a single lamp which has now been sealed with silicone filler (easier to fill than filler!) All rooms have humidistat controlled fans set at 50%.

Humidity in the house is 50-60%, it is 85%!!! in the loft.

A dehumidifier is emptying at a rate of 3L/day.

Clearly I need to sort the air flow in the loft out...
