mondeo 96 heater problem

Hi

I can only get cold air from the air vents.
The fan woorks on all speeds and the directional dial sends it the right way.
The heater control turns but no heat.
Where does the dial connect to?

It either operates a flap in the heater or a water valve, dont know what system Ford use, so cable could be broken/disconnected. Check the heater hoses they should both be hot.

The hoses are hot to the heater matrix.
where is this cable connected to seems to go in to drivers side foot well.
