Something a woman said on TV this morning made me think. She said we, as human beings, are all born with an inbuilt sense of morality. Surely this is something we learn?

Agree with the person on t.v, Dg..and it can be encouraged or brainwashed away

I don't think we are born with it. It is learned behaviour, people who are brought up in deprived circumstances without parents who teach them the difference between right and wrong can be totally immoral. You can often see it in the crimes people commit where it's almost as if they have some part of their brain missing and it's impossible to work out how they can possibly have done it

two definitions from dictionary

Immoral "Contrary to established moral principles"

Amoral "Lacking moral sensibility; not caring about right and wrong"

So I think what I am saying is we are born Amoral and then taught to have Morals appropriate to our culture and society so that we don't behave in a way that is perceived to be immoral
