More Eurobans on the way ?

Well, without getting into "I don't like being told what I can / can't buy". If you look at the car industry, many of these "diktats" on increased fuel efficiency etc etc have spawned a lot of innovations. The same will probably occur in the small appliance industry, so maybe not such a bad thing.

There have been plenty of innovations in the past, cars that run on waste, cars with body work that cannot be damaged (even with a sledge hammer) and they have even invented grass that doesn't grow any higher than an inch. But, these innovations will ever make it onto the open market because they will not bring in the taxes, they would destroy the car body repair industry and the lawnmower industry.

Argument aside has anyone on here actually got a 2000 w vacuum? I've checked ours and the Hoover is 800w , we have a Kirby of 635w and a couple of Henrys that are 1100w.

Thanks for the replies , I did wonder just how many machines that would be involved. Is it 10% or 50% of the market. I also wondered just how powerful a 2000w machine could be , as I say my Henry is 1100w and it can pick up brick ends so this new legislation shouldn't have the effect of turning our homes into filth strewn pigsties .

Never bought a Dyson , put off by a repair shop who specialise in just repairing them . They seem to be doing well as there is a waiting list if you want a repair.
Miele for us.

My mom worked in an electrical retailers in the seventies, and Miele was always an aspirational brand for her.
She has bought (and had pack up) three Miele vacs in the time we had one Dyson.

Just an observation.

My ex wife claimed that we had a vacuum cleaner with Vertigo - it would never go upstairs to clean anything :)

It just occurred to me that if the EU continues on these lines there won't be any more Chelsea tractors in a few years. What will Tarquin and Chantelle do then?

We got two Mielie's, the upright is 1800 and the little one on wheels is 2200 or so, they are both big suckers!!

Perhaps a rickshaw pulled by a few illegals or someone on minimum wage?

Does this law apply to commercial vacs used by office cleaners, etc.? I'm thinking that if you have a big house and a 900W vac (from 2017) doesn't cut the Colmans, you could use a small industrial vac. Same as you can buy incandescent bulbs if they are rough service/industrial.

Maybe electric or hybrid ones, necessity (demand) is the mother of invention.

this was an interesting article I stumbled across. (it's not directly related to Chelsea tractors)

Oh I do hope it works. It wouldn't be too much longer afterwards that several backward countries in the Middle East would revert to the mediaeval societies they seem to yearn for.
