Hi,

The house I have bought has electric heating and 1 wood stove. I would like to go for the most economic heating, what areas should I look into?

I am game for anything, such as solar, wood-firing etc, so any ideas much welcome

If you have the money for the initial outlay, Ground source Heatpumps are the best way to go http://www.actionrenewables.org/techgshp.htm this can be coupled with solar panels and or wind turbines.

Typically a coefficent of performance (CoP) of 4-1 can be achieved.

An average size house complying to part L would cost 7-8k and be recoverable within 3-4 years.

Still learning all about it but makes interesting reading.

Grants are also available in GB.
