what's the need for the vent above ground level?

I knowwhat's the need for the vent above ground level?
some appalling brickwork though
Here’s what I did to one of mine while back-pedalling off my drive into the road. Missed the slope, dropped off the kerb and over it went. £2k's worth of damage! Couldn’t even pick the bugger up on my own. Here is the damage caused by dropping the bike before I made this ingenious device from a road sign.

Lazy Suzy? That's neat, smaller than I was expecting.
I did a turntable thing a few years back for a disabled guy, who could drive his mobility scooter into the garage but couldn't bend his neck and whatnot to reverse out easily.
I got some WBP ply and went to my local Kwikfit with two squares of 1/8 steel, and got them to use a "retrieved" part . They welded it to the plates for me, free given the cause, and I screwed it to the ply.
Guess what the retrieved part was????
One of you will know instantly.....

Been there. Embarrassing, innit! Here’s what I did to one of mine while back-pedalling off my drive into the road. Missed the slope, dropped off the kerb and over it went. £2k's worth of damage! Couldn’t even pick the bugger up on my own.

ha ha yes, I will post a pic when I get back. I bet people would pay for this. I know I would. It has cost me hundreds in repairs from dropping it on my drive. £20 and I could have avoided all this time
