hi,my mother has an oil fired heating system, the problem is 1 of the motorised valves, when she calls for hot water the valve opens and the pump starts ,when she switches off the hot water and calls for the central heating the other valve open but the pump stays off,no heating ,so even though the valve opens for the heating its as if it is not sending the command to the pump,do you think the valve needs replacing, i have checked the wiring at the control box and all is secure ,thanks for any advice ,bigal

cheers, so would i be right in thinking when the valve opens it makes an electrical connection which put on the pump

cheers kev , found a loose wire at the microswitch which seems to have overheated causing the solder to melt, next ? would a faulty microswitch overheat or is something else electrical and can you buy seperate parts for the valve or is it the whole unit ,thanks bigal
