Hi,

Can someone tell me approximately how much solid wood is around the handle area of these doors. I want to fit some seperate privacy locks (engaged/vacant type) to my bathrooms and I'm not sure without probing with a bradawl, how far up the door the wood goes.

Thanks Blod

The centre of the lock block on most doors is approximately 950mm from the bottom edge of the door and is usually 300mm long and the width of the lock stile (100mm). So, in theory, it should be positioned between 800mm-1100mm up from the bottom edge of the door, but make allowances for the door having been trimmed to fit and some door manufacturers being different. Also, some doors only have a lock block on one side whereas others have them each side, so, if the latch has been fitted to the wrong edge of the door, there may be no block there at all.
