Hi, I wanted to segregate a rectangle room with a simple stud wall.
There is a door at each end of the room, and I thought it would be nice to be able to move the partition wall on rare occasions it is required. It would only need to be moved 600mm max.

Any ideas on how to achieve that? It is not necessary to build in any specific materials, only that it must not look temporary. :D

Have you considered sliding/folding doors like you see in schools, offices and the like?

Yeah, but they are fixed in position. I want to adjust room(s) size(s) not open up to one room. Thanks.

The precise scenario is this: One side will be the little used dining room, the other side is the mostly used Gym. When we have the relatives around at Xmas, the gym can be 'shrunk' by 600mm to allow for use of dining room.

Hmmmm, thanks guys (I think). But, still waiting for a 'real' idea involving a slider/rollers/rails.

demountable partition wall systems are used in offices etc, but the cost and effort involved in getting one installed then getting it moved 2 ft every Xmas would probably be disproportionate.

Why not just take the rellies out to the local Harvester for Xmas lunch?
