Moving a gas meter

At some point we want to knock through our kitchen wall and convert the integral garage to an extended kitchen. Our gas meter is on the wall we will be knocking through though.

Do we have to get Transco out or just get in touch with our energy supplier to come and do it? It would need to be moved about 1.5 mtrs to another wall.
 
Transco which is now National Grid in your area i think .
Be prepared for it to be possibly between 5 and 7 hundred quid to move it there minimum prices rose sharply last year.
I think you can do it on line for a pricing.
