Hi there,
I am in the middle of installing a new kitchen and with this the place of the hob has moved and put one of the sockets in a unallowed zone so this socket needs to be moved .
The ring wire comes down from the ceiling and into the socket and runs in a metal conduit .
Now from what I know it is not a safe bet to join the new length of wire to the original and cover it over with a wall covering (we are having a tekwall back splash fitted) and as you can imagine we don't really want a cover plate showing.
So what would be that best course of action to solve this problem.
Thank you for your help darreb

Possibly, pull the wires up into the ceiling void, and extend them with maintenance free junction boxes.

Run the new cables along the ceiling void (or within 150mm below the kitchen ceiling in the wall) and then downwards in what can be classed as a safe cable zone.

What about joining the old cables above the ceiling
and
Getting a feed from somewhere else that's more convenient?

If I was to do that I might as just as well do the first option don't you think? Because I would still have to run a new channel .

And can you run the cables in a manner where less chasing is required? Can cables be run behind kitchen cupboards?
