fit a nice fluorescent strip light. sorted. you can drill through the top of the case and add a grommit into the aperture, to protect the cable, if the point where the cable needs to enter the fitting does not coincide with the manufactured entry point. 20mm drill bit and grommit. It may look quite nice and a good lamp life. Other than that, lift the boards and get on with it.
