I'm looking to move our loft hatch out of the bathroom and into the landing in our 1900's middle terrace.

Just want some reassurance that i'll be ok to cut another ceiling joist or if its too close to the previously cut joist.

pic will help explain: I will need to cut one joist to enable a decent sized hatch.

You should be fine doing what you propose - just so long as there is no sagging or swaying in the present joists.

Do you know the section ( ht and thickness ) of the in-place joists?

We often move the hatch from over the stairwell to over the landing.
