Moving meter box outside

Hi,

We're having our meter box moved from the entrance hallway to an external wall (surface mounted, solid stone wall), and the CU moved from the same hallway to a cellar located below the hallway. Plan was to have the meter tails exit the rear of the meter box and emerge below the floor of the hallway to drop straight to the top of the CU. I've collected the meter box from the supplier to fit to the wall and noticed the instructions specify a minimum distance to the bottom of the meter box of 50cm. This is too high up the wall to avoid entering the property inside the hallway and we wanted to avoid any visible cables or trunking in the hallway. Is it permitted for the tails to exit the bottom of the meter box and then go through the external wall below the box? Or for the hole through the wall to be angled downwards into the property?

You would need to enclose the meter tails in trunking of some sort to protect them from physical damage and the effects of UV, heat, cold, etc.
There is also a 3 metre length limit to the meter tails
The best person to ask is the electrician who is sorting out the move of the CU.
