Moving radiators

why is it considered

good practice

to cap off the open ends of radiators before moving them, rather than just turning them upside down??
also, what do you use to cap them?

cause that black sludge is a bugger to clean up.

just use cap ends, remove the nut and use the cap 3/4" or 1/2"

but they turn them upside down to stop the crap pouring out. it is considered bad practice to do this now, but why not as long as it doesnt pour out!!!

The only reason is to protect the customer's property.

We've all had problems with sludge... this is just one way to prevent it

doesn't turning it upside down let all the sludge run to the top of the rad and possibly block the bleed valves and such?

if the rads that sludged when removed common sense would tell you to flush it through before re-fitting.
