I'm thinking about moving the stairs in the house that I'm buying to either create 3 upstairs bedrooms, or (more likely) 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

I'm wondering if it would be better to flip the stairs, so the bottom of the stairs is in the dining room with the top of the stairs by the front door

OR

Putting the stairs along the side of the house, to the left hand side as you enter the front door. This will obviously require a landing running back along to the front bedroom, but this would probably make the second room a lot smaller.

Any ideas as to how easy / expensive this would be?

You will need to check with your BCO as there will be fire safely building regs
