If it's a mega size kiln you mightt be in for a new supply rather than just upping the size of the tails. Right out of one of Scaddons books - he even used a kiln as an example.

Only difference this is not a bungalow! Know the book far too well!

Also my sisters outbuilding has a dirty great big asbestos roof at present, hense her going to have a wrestling match with BC.

I saw her kiln at her school some years ago before I had my becoming an electrican epithany and it was about 1 metre cubed in size (the inside that is). I have no idea about the loading of these things so I'll have a good google or get her to suggest models she's interested in.

If I can help her with her project and save her a few bob then great. If at same time I can use it for getting NICEIC domestic installer qualified purposes then even better.

Post Scipt.

i hope i can help you what kind of kiln is it etc and whats the cable route etc. thanks

She informs me that the one she wants is 10.5kW. So really it's just like running a powerful shower I suppose. Apart from normal considerations [cable derating et al] are there any other considerations for such equipment (extractor ventilation? etc)

However, my sister has helped me by advising "Surely you can just plug it in! [via 13A plug BS1362 style]"

Keep to teaching art not science my dear!!

If you are a handy DIYer then taking off an asbestos cement garage roof isnt that difficult as as long as it's wrapped in polythene sheet most Council tips will take it free of charge. You don't need a licensed asbestos contractor to do this work.

This is good to know and I'll pass this info on to her. She basically rebuilt the property herself (bought nursery, demolished bungalow and replaced with family house) so she is pretty handy at doing graft.

Thanks.
