ms synchtoy - warning

Hi.
Been using synchtoy for years.

Checking my backup drive I found one folder had three sub folders, but it should contain twelve. For some reason synchtoy has only copied three of them. Check your backups.

Anyone know of an alternative programme.

Edit - Just ran synchtoy again, it has now copied all the sub and sub sub folders, but there all empty fkin useless. Thats 43000 files potentially lost.

I've used SyncToy for ages and never had a problem.
Just checked my Ext HD where I copy to and all my folders are OK.
I usually use the 'Echo' to copy/update files from my PC's C: drive to my Ext HD K:
If I take my ext HD away and use it then I normally select 'Synchronize' when I return to copy new work on each drive to the other.

Never had a problem.

Which settings do you use to copy files?

I think I used "contribute". Can't check because synchtoy has been uninstalled.

I became aware of the problem by checking properties and found a big difference between the size of the originals and the backups. Some folders were ok but others were empty.

Anyway, downloaded "ezback-it-up" and now have a full backup.

Doesn't synctoy have a back up folder or use the recycle bin? And don't you preview the data first before syncing?

An alternative is GoodSync - www.goodsync.com
