my 99 diesel focus grinds when selecting 3rd gear and some times struggles to select 1st can this b fixed or do i need a new box all help welcome thanks

It does sound like a 3rd gear synchromesh problem, and the fact that first is a bit of an issue does indicate that the box is past its best....however if it crunches into 1st and reverse then its often a clutch problem. This wouldn't be noticed in 3rd though.

No probs mate - if you can live with it, I'd leave it until it actually starts jumping out of gear.
