my boiler doesn't fire up, only after i reset it!!!

I've just moved in to a new place and the combi boiler in the house only fires up if i reset it, whilst the water runs, it works fine, although the water never gets too hot, when i stop the water and open again, it doesn't fire up. If i reset it again it will work fine.

Does anyone know what's going on? I've been told it's 10 years old and the model is ALPHA CB28.

Well it evidently has a fault, but its a little difficult to guess what it is and in any case will probably be combustion related and need a competent CORGI to diagnose it for you.

What happens in ch mode?

Do you mean it actually locks out and gives a sequence of flashing lights as an error code, or just won't fire?

If locked out, what lights are flashing and their timings?
