Sat my 2382-10 (BS7671:2008 full) today.

1, Scope, object & fundamental principles: 100%
2, Definitions: 100%
3, Assesment of general charecteristics: 80%
4, Protection for safety: 92.9%
5, Selection & erection of equipment: 100%
6, Inspection & testing: 83.3%
7, Special installations or locations: 100%
8, Appendices: 100%

Thats 57 out of 60 questions, with the pass mark being 36/37 (depending on weightings) (I was very surprised to see such a low pass mark considering the nature of the work people taking this exam undertake.)

Took 25 minutes out of the allowed 120.

Needless to say, I'm well chuffed. 8)

What three wrong!!!
thicko :D

nah well done mate ya did better than me!! and in half the time, though I did do my 16th in about 25 mins but i was 10 yrs younger then and used to be a swot :)
took me just over an hour for my 17th, I'm not technically employed as a sparky these days,so that's my excuse for taking longer this time  I'm getting old and rusty and losing my sparkyness t:roll:

Yeah, three?? You're letting the side down. Even thick old me only got one wrong.

Don't forget your coat.

One wrong ? Lord

I won't even dare go into my professional exams (not sparky related)

Anyway what I mean is well done.

Lets look at the exam and what it really means.
You have the book but not enough time to research every question so to pass you must.

1) Know some answers without need to look up.
2) Realise what need research
3) Be able to find answers quickly

If you are no an electrician and have never followed BS 7671 in the past then reading the red book through a few times will give you enough answers without need to look up to have time required to research the rest.

It is the electrician who has used the 16th Edition for years who have problems as all too easy to answer a question to 16th standard rather than 17th standard and it is the unlearning of 16th which becomes the problem.

However as time goes by we are all getting use to the changes and although pre June 2008 those electricians who like myself took and passed the exam before it became fully operational may have had problems remembering the changes by now I should think rather easy.

However I still can't see why the Appendix is part of the exam? What reason is there to know all those BS numbers? And as we see many times people know what it says but not what it means and really the C&G 2391 is the qualification which shows some ability rather than 2382.

It is really easier for a non electrical person to pass the 2382 than a time served electrician and I still have to check from time to time the minimum insulation resistance it seems to have changed so many times.

And yes I got one question wrong in the Appendix section.
