Recent moved into a new apartment and i have some french doors.

Whenever there is a bit of wind there is a whistling sound that can be heard. i think it is coming from the top left of the left doors - near the top hinge, i think.

The apartment is approx 3 yrs old and had only been lived in for 6 months or so when i moved in...

Is it something to do with the hinges needing to be altered/tightened?

anyone any idea on how this whistling sound problem can be cured.

Thanks

Are all the sealant round the frame in good condition and no crack or gap?

I don't know if you have tried it, but maybe put a bit of Vaseline on the hinges and along the bottom.

I had exactly the same problem in a flat. It wasn't coming through the actual window, but through the slight gap between the frame edge and the brickwork.
The silicone sealant that seals this gap wasn't stuck properly. When the wind is blowing, you should feel a slight draught if this is the problem.Try some more silicone in the gap.

(Hmmmmmm - Vaseline on the bottom - oooh matron!!)

i can feel a slight draft yes! so i will give the silicone sealant a go and report back! thanks for the suggestion!

anyway, many thanks for the advice, i'll have a go!!!! (at silicone sealing my doors - not vaselining my bottom :P )
