Hi,

We own a mid terraced property that is currently on the market but previously been rented out.

Today after the estate agent was handling a viewing the neighbour to our left (as you look at the property) came out and advised that he'd been up in his loft and discovered a hole in the loft space between the two buildings.

Now these properties date back probably 100 years or so. Typical 2 up 2 down types.

Is there anything we should do about this hole and if so, is it our wall, their wall or our joint responsibility?

On the old terrace I just moved from there was a hole about 2 bricks I think I thought it was for ventilation.
I had boxes against it so neighbour couldnt look in.

I've worked in terraces where there were no dividing walls between the attics at all. Talk about making it easy for tea leafs!

i remember as a kid carrying blocks up into the loft for my dad to build the walls as there was known
