 HI

COULD YOU PLEASE HELP.

My pilot would not stay alight when the button was released.

I have fitted a new thermal coupling and pilot assy as well as new gas valve but the problem is still the same.

When I connect a meter to the tags on the coupling which is connected to the thermostat I have continuity.

Any ideas as this is driving me mad.

GAS IS TURNED ON!

Pilot lights but goes out when button is released.

try lighting the pilot with the overheat stat bridged out.

Do a search on Apollo pilots, its been done to death. However you are meddling within the combustion chamber and advise you to call in a corgi.

Voltage generated by thermocouple is fed to gas valve via overheat stat. There is a connection between these two items at the end of gas valve.

If any of the connections are poor, or shorting, and the pilot will not stay lit. Solonoid in gas valve could be defective but you say new one has been fitted so that should eliminate that.

I would go with defectice connections and then faulty thermocouple. But first check electrical continuity through overheat stat as any extra resistance here could loose the very small voltage from thermocouple.

ill give you an idea, call an expert, if your not corgi, which by the sound of your not, its illegal to work on gas, by the way the gas valves is gas and pilot and removing combustion cover

Problem solved.
The limit stat was the fault but it was intermitant.
Thanks for all your replies and help.
I am not a corgi , but a labrador.
