Can anyone tell me the age of this monstrosity,I`m sure I saw them in the 70s,its in my dads house and we are trying to get the council to get a more modern one, too expensive to put on .

Telling them how old it is will not get them to change it if it's working OK, however if you know when it's getting serviced move a bed in to the same room as the fire & tell them the room is now being used for sleeping in & they will have to fit a fire with an oxypilot. Only thing is if it's council property you will only get a R/W Visa or a Valor Firelite etc, not the best looking fires.
his neighbour has a bermuda baxi with hearth and fireplace coal effect council as well,have you any ideas of age,some burk has painted the surround white paint which is not safe,is it,thanks for your tip though
