What nail type and size should i be using to create a new floor. i am using speedy joist hangers nailed into a wall plate ?

Do you mean what type of nail to fix the joist to the hanger?

If so, 30mm square twist nails.

ok, thanks. do these come in slightly bigger sizes. i can only find 30mm. would like 40mm if possible.

Square twist are made specifically for fixing structural metalwork. 30mm is standard. I've not seen other sizes.

30mm galv clouts are equal to the task. You only have to knock them in at differing angles to get a fixing that is near impossible to rip out.

The metal hanger will tear first.
