Hi. Please help. This is not popped or rusted nails. The nails in angled ceiling/ wall of attic conversion show through the paint, many of them with big dark circles in the centre (much bigger than the nails) and a white circle around that. I cant remove them as there's so many of them and they hold the wall up. What do I need to do before I redecorate, to prevent it happening again? Any advice is much appreciated. Needs it done ASAP as just moved into this home and baby due soon. Photo attach of nails with and without circles.

Dig out. Don't be too fussy.
Zinsser BIN.
Fill with toupret powder.
Sand smooth
Foam roller with zinsser BIN over filler.
Emulsion.

Nails go black with candles or condensation

Probably condensation in this situation, the nail is a cold bridge from the rafters (which are coldish) to the inside head of the nail (which are warm) so condensation forms around them. Nothing else you can do other than improving the insulation situation, I wouldn't worry and it's not a big worry.
