hello chaps!

Been asked to patched up a couple of square feet of render where customer has blocked up a couple of holes, all he's after is something less conspicuous than a flat finished render but i have no idea what his current finish is, any offer please on how to go about said job?

Thx

It looks like tyrolean that's had lots of paint on it. I've never seen it patched seamlessly.

thanks guys! tha solves it i think :-)

he's not expecting seamlesss thankfully, told it wouldn't be anyway, he just wants something better than flat render which would stand out like a sore thumb.

will investigate the price for hiring one and getting materials, seems a lot of effort and expense though for 2 such small areas.

maybe RC will chip in and offer some advice on patching.

Thx again

As the guys have said it is tyrolean,,, very difficult to patch invisibly as Joe said, but you can make it look acceptable with a little bit of care. Tell the customer before you start,, that the tyrolean colour, texture, will be different to whats already on, and the render patch itself will be patched as good as you can get it.

Have a look at this old post.

hey RC! your ears must have been burning ;-)

thx for the reply, will read the old thread and let him have the news, see what he wants to do from there.

I did read what you and Alastair had written this morning (Monday), but i was in a hurry to get into town early for materials. I was always going to reply TM,, and you're right,, the burning lugholes were driving me mad all day,, so whenever i got in, it was straight onto the keyboard. Couldn't let one of our own down.
