Does a kitchen need to have a window, with natural light.

Presume it need have no specific outllook, could a roof window suffice ?

Could a 'light tunnel' help in this regard ?

And any requirement would need to satisfy both Planning and Building Control.

This defines a habitable room under BC:

Would the planning side fall on what Local Plans say, or is there National Guidance ??

I understand that the kitchen needs to have sufficient ventilation, whch can be via an openable window or an overhead extractor.
