Neaten this pipework

This rad is leaking and needs attention. Since it’s a very old radiator, I thought I would replace it and tidy up the pipework.

I was thinking I come out of the vertical boxing and then conceal the pipes but that would require a long horizontal chase which I think is not recommended.

Can I have your suggestions for this please.

Oh dear - that's quite bad - can I take a guess that it was DIY'd?

I'd extend that pipe down in the trunking and then bring out with the other pipe then along and up into the rad valve. Clip the 2 pipe together and then paint them to blend into the wood. Or out slightly higher just above the skirting and paint them white to match the wall.

Or is that pipework coming up out the floor? Is it wood, would hazard a guess it may be concrete otherwise the pipes would already be under the floor?
 
Why do you want to conceal them? You can get Talon pipe covers that clips onto Talon pipe clips, but can look a bit shít
 
This was done by the builder (come plumber) around 25 years ago.

I thought there may be a way to bury the pipes behind the wall and skim it over.

Could I drop to 10mm plastic pipe when the copper comes out of the vertical wooden boxing and then fit a rad with a floating pipe arrangement?

The floor is concrete and the pipes are dropping down from the bedroom.
 
Don't take anything to 10mm in a CH system unless it is a low capacity system (new build, highly insulated, small rads) and it's all short 10mm runs
I was just proposing that I drop down to 10mm from where the 15mm currently exit the vertical boxing. I can then bury them behind the plaster and bend then around to connect to the radiator valves. Would that be okay do you think?

Again, why do you want to bury them?
 
It would look tidier even if you moved the vertical drop so it's tight to what looks like box section then had a longer horizontal run at skirting height painted to match the wall

Nope - that can then become a bottleneck and can reduce to the flow to that rad and the others then have to be throttled to ensure that rad get enough heat.

Of course that's all dependent on the size of system, size of rads, where that rad sits on the system etc.

It will look tidier. And the wall can be painted without pipes on show

Bring the other pipe down to just above the return pipe, then go horizontal parallel to the other one, and clip it to the skirting board. Use 2 - 3 fittings to jump over and connect to the TRV, but neater as currently it seems to be slightly bent away from the wall.

I would then come up where the TRV is and then elbow away from the wall and then elbow into the TRV. Does that sound about right?

Not sure what you mean by "come up", looks like the new pipe can be at the same level as the TRV, needing 2 elbows, but apart that, sounds fine.
