I have had a Nectar card for yonks.

In disgust at the number of hoops I had to go through to redeem my savings, I sent it back to Sainsbury's (I know they don't run Nectar but it was them I was having great difficulty spending it with).

They sent a replacement one recently and as I happened to be in there, I asked if I could pay my bill with Nectar.

"No, only £2.50 in each transaction."..........

"Sorry, your card has been rejected."

"Why?"

"Because you haven't shopped in this store before."..............

So now not only do you have to shop in a store before using the card for redemption purposes, you can only spend your hard-earned pennies bit by bit.

ARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!

What a s*dding rigmarole.

Tesco is far better. Get the points, spend the vouchers.

dont like loyalty cards for a 0.5 to1% discount they know all your life and suspect share all your information with others
it will sway your purchasing thoughts to some extent or other
having said that i have a asda credit card to get 1% back from asda and 0.5% from other retailers
but off course i have the money collecting interest until transferred to the credit card :D

Clubcard's OK as there are periods when they give double the amount.
Also they have partners - I use my vouchers to pay for RAC every year.
